Here at Poteet Seafood we distribute only the finest Wild Caught Georgia Shrimp. We specialize in Atlantic White Shrimp (Litopenaeus setiferus) and Atlantic Brown Shrimp (Farfantepenaeus aztecus) during the summer months. As soon as the boats unload their products we bring it back to our facility to be headed, graded (uniformly sized), sold fresh or frozen immediately.
When you freeze a beautiful shrimp correctly it will defrost like the day it was unloaded off the boat.
Our IQF (Individually Quick Frozen) is a favorite with our customers. We use a liquid nitrogen system to freeze our product instead of the commonly used brine system. Liquid nitrogen uses no salt additive like the brine system which high concentrates of salt causes the shrimp shell to "stick" to the meat. After the shrimp go through the liquid nitrogen tunnel a protective glaze is added to the shrimp to prevent freezer burn. After the glaze they are packed into bags and then into boxes which adds more protection from freezer burn. The major benefit of IQF is that you pull the amount of shrimp needed while leaving the rest frozen.
Our traditional 5 lbs Block Frozen and 50 lbs master carton are loved by many restaurants and long-distance travelers.
We offer head-on and head-less Wild Georgia Shrimp. If you would like to purchase head-on Wild Georgia Shrimp please contact us because we head our shrimp the day they are brought back to our facilities. Please also note that we freeze our shrimp shortly after receiving them to ensure our customers are getting the freshest product.
